When one hears of portable chargers these days, the first thing that comes to mind would be chargers for cellular phones, tablets, and handheld game consoles. Electronic gadgets and household appliances are known to use battery chargers. However, a boat or an automobile can also use portable chargers which come in handy when travelling. There are different kinds of battery chargers and one of these is 6 volt battery chargers.

Six volt and 9 volt batteries are usually used in household appliances and 12 volt batteries are common among heavy equipment like marine vehicles and cars. The portable chargers use for electronic gadgets and appliances are not the same at the ones used for cars and boats. You’ll also need to consider your battery’s capacity or how much electricity the battery can produce, you can refer to it as the voltage and the amp. Another factor to consider is the actual size of the battery; it should just be the right size for your car battery.

The 6-volt charger battery is known to have higher amp rating than a 12-volt battery so if you can connect two 6-volt batteries you can get more power supply than a single 12-volt battery. You can also conveniently use a 6-volt charger for this. Golf carts are also known to be powered by 6-volt batteries.

Car Battery Charger

There are some really neat products on the market that are a much safer and steady solution to jump or charge your car battery than jumping it with another running car. The main reason for this is the portable chargers are not at risk for exploding and they charge your battery just enough to get your car started instead of blasting it with power like a running car does.

Portable car battery chargers are easy to maintain as you simply just plug it into a wall jack to charge it up. Once the battery charger has fully charged you just put it in the truck of the car or put it in the car somewhere.

To operate the portable charger, you simple connect the positive and negative cables to the positive and negative receptor on your car battery. Some portable chargers instantly start charging once connected, others you actually just flip the “ON” switch.

Once the battery is charged start the car and you can be on your way to the important things you were at risk of missing with a dead battery. Just disconnect the charger while the car is running and then plug the charger in when you get home to keep the charge at maximum charge.

The Future of Fuel Cell Buses is Here

Fuel Cell technology works and is being used right now in many large cities running their bus fleets and yet there is still more research that needs to be done. The Fuel Cell Buses are getting more powerful, more reliable and have a much longer range then before.

Water Fuel Cell Technology – Is it All Hype?

The water fuel cell is what could well change the way we drive our vehicles forever. Not only would the cost of gasoline not matter to you anymore, but you could get all the water you needed simply out of your faucet to run your vehicle. Let’s look at the water fuel cell and how it was used by Stanley Meyer in his car.

Mr. Meyer made a device in which he used water as his only means of fuel. Sounds too good to be true right? This cell would literally split up the water into hydrogen and oxygen. When the hydrogen would burn it would create energy which would have the vehicle moving along.

Many people believe he did not really find the true fuel cell, but instead was using electrolysis to operate his vehicle. However, Meyer did claim that his vehicle could make it from New York to California by using only 22 gallons of water.

To me it seems that the rising cost of gas, and how much you would save, wouldn’t matter in regards to how you got there, fuel cell or electrolysis.

Meyer would eventually be sued by two companies who bought his water fuel cell technology in Ohio. He would be forced to pay back those two investors. It wasn’t because the device didn’t work, but because they said it was using the basics of electrolysis to run.

It seems that Meyer was well onto a way that would save millions of people money. Could it be that it wasn’t really an accident that his death occurred at such an early age? According to many experts this is the case, they feel that what Meyer had created would run the oil companies out of business.

Of course, like the conspiracy theory that’s associated with the assassination of Kennedy, these claims will never be proven.

But Meyer’s patent is pending, and many will surely follow in his footsteps in the hopes of creating the water fuel cell perfectly.

Finally, no matter what side of the fence you stand on, it should be noticed that Meyer did drive a vehicle around using his water fuel cell. So, obviously it worked. Even if it was a rip off of the electrolysis theory why don’t we look into it even more? What is more important, saving money on those high costs of gasoline, or whether the water cell technology was what it was said to be?

Maintenance Of Car Batteries

The car is a very complex matter. It has bearings & seals, belts & hoses to fix. It also has engine, transmission and brake systems to maintain. One of the important pieces in the vehicle that should always be maintained is the car battery. If your battery is damaged or not charged, then you would not be able to start the vehicle in the first place. Maintaining the battery will not only make your car run, it will also be able to save you lots of money since you do not have to buy a new one. Car battery service or maintenance is one of the easiest maintenance items to do. It will not cost much, it is not complex and it will not take too much of your time.

Every time you work on your car battery, always wear the appropriate protective gears such as gloves and goggles. The acid inside the battery is dangerous to the health if inhaled and it can cause burns if it makes contact with the skin. While cleaning or repairing the battery, do not smoke near it. A small spark can cause the battery to explode if you are not too careful. Car batteries have nitrogen gas that is highly flammable so better be careful when handling it.

Here are a few tips when it comes to car battery care. Always check the liquid level inside the battery. There are batteries that you should do this on a regular basis but for maintenance-free ones, you do not have to. In order to check the battery liquid, also known as electrolyte, all you have to do is remove the removable screw-caps at the top of the battery. You will see here the plates after removing the caps. The plates should be covered by electrolytes. The liquid should be on the same level as the base of the screw cap. In order to fill up the electrolyte, just use distilled water.

There is a bracket holding the battery in place. You should always make sure that the bracket is sufficiently tight. If this is not tight, then the battery will move around when the vehicle is in used and this will cause damage. Aside from the battery bracket, it is also advisable to check the tightness of the clamps connected to the positive and negative spots of the battery terminal. Any loose connection can cause sudden problems during car ignition.
Ideally, car batteries should be fully charged at all times to get the best result out of it. However, if you do mostly short trips, then the battery will not charge completely. If this is the case, you should be able to use battery chargers in order to maintain fully charged battery.

Over time, batteries will show signs of corrosion. In order to clean this, all you have to do is to disconnect the black and red battery leads so you can clean the terminals and the connectors with ease. Use a small wire brush for this.

Rebuilding A Laptop Battery

When your acer aspire 1350 battery is about to give up the ghost, you are probably thinking of the typical three alternatives. The most obvious, of course, is “wow, what a great justification for buying a new laptop”. With laptop prices falling and no such luck with battery prices, this almost makes sense. But, most of us will probably just bite the bullet and buy a new battery. The third alternative would be to replace the cells in the battery you already have.
This article is about the third alternative. If you are not fairly skilled in working on electronics, this is not necessarily a good alternative. But, it is possible. Personally, I was inspired to do this the first time because the small (3-cell) battery for my ASUS laptop was very ill and I couldn’t find a replacement.
Financially, it also looked like a good choice.

The out of stock new battery cost $ 129. I found the cells for a bit over $ 5 each. So, I ordered the cells and, expecting to have a success, ordered six more for a sick battery for one of my T23 ThinkPads.
The first trick is to open the old battery without destroying the plastic or anything important inside. What you need to do is find where the two parts are glued together and work on the glue line with something sharp until you can open the battery.
In the case of ThinkPad batteries, there are labels over parts of the glue line. So, first cut through the labels with a sharp knife. I then chose to use a wood chisel to first find parts of the plastic that will flex because there is open space behind them and then start opening in these areas. You may have better luck with a utility knife.
Once you get the opening process started, a utility knife works best in some parts, the wood chisel in others. Just be careful not to cut too deep or you could damage circuitry or wiring inside. Also, remember that the goal is to be able to glue the acer squ-302 battery case back together and have it fit in the laptop so cutting out a little plastic (possibly with a fine saw) may be better than an attempt to just open it up with the result of warping or breaking the plastic.
Once you have the battery pack open, it is analysis time. The most common battery packs contain three, six or nine Li-ion cells of size 18650. Typically they are in strings of three in series (that gives you about 11V) and then each string is paralleled. But, that may not be the case. Do a bit of analysis before you start cutting wires.
Note that the cell size is not something that indicates that there are at least 18,649 other choices. It is actually the diameter of the cell in millimeters (18) followed by the length in millimeters (650). The big advantage with this system is that if the cell isn’t marked with a size, a metric ruler can help you out.
As Li-ion batteries need special “care and feeding”, you will find a circuit board within the battery pack, Wires will go from the circuit board to each cell junction so that the voltages can be monitored. Also, there will be a thermistor and a thermal circuit breaker within the pack.
There are lots of places that sell replacement Li-ion cells. One is Battery Junction. On their site you will find all the common acer aspire 1510 battery sizes. They also have both PC boards to protect sets of cells and a special 18650 cell with a built-in protection circuit. Assuming you are replacing cells in an existing pack, you just need to buy regular cells. One thing you do need to watch for, however, is tabs. Typically you can ask to have solder tabs spot welded to the cells. This is the right way to go rather than trying to solder directly to the cell which could easily damage the seals.

Portable Fuel Cell’s Power Generating, Battery Charging Capabilities

During the exercises, a Nett Warrior-equipped Rifle platoon, along with all of its organic radio power consumers, consumed the power of 140 batteries per day.

Rechargeable batteries are a key element of the Nett Warrior system, offering reduced costs and logistics tail. However, battery charging in remote conditions can be problematic.
